Now you have to but do you like to work from home?

I was always trying to get an opportunity to work from home at least once a week. For some companies, this was the norm. For others, it was simply unacceptable. However, sometimes you just have to ask and explain why it is important to you. I had to have a few long negotiations but, believe me, it was worth it.

For me, it has been always very important for a variety of reasons:

  • I feel trusted
  • It brings flexibility
  • I believe that company (or at least a manager) shares my values
  • It gives me a sense of freedom

I have met many people who have no need to work from home and I respect it. You would probably agree, that the remote work doesn’t suit everyone and not every profession allows to do so. And that’s fine too.

I have always worked as a Recruiter in the ICT sector. Luckily, this job tolerates the remote work as long as you have a laptop, stable internet and workplace. Oh yes, I forgot to mention another compulsory thing — self-discipline😊

Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing and talking to people. I miss face-to-face communication with my colleagues. Needless to say, none of the internet technologies can replace a live interaction.

And yet, why am I so fond of working from home? At least once a week I can:

  • Sleep longer and refill my energy level
  • Enjoy my morning ritual of reading news with a cup of freshly brewed coffee
  • Be more rested since I don’t need to commute
  • Focus on complex and time-consuming tasks with no (or fewer) distractions
  • Be more productive as a result of all mentioned above

The situation with the Coronavirus outbreak has forced many companies to redefine their attitude to the remote work and trust more their employees. It is a pity that this only happened under the prevailing circumstances.

However, those who have never worked from home, but have always wanted to, can show that it works. It’s your chance to prove that you can be trusted. So guys, don’t blow it!
